MEDIATION:
Present practice includes civil, family, labor, union and employee relations, and criminal mediation. Have mediated or co-mediated in excess of 200 cases.

Purchasing, Construction, Plant Operations, Labor and Employee Relations, Business Management, Engineering, Family and Divorce Issues.

MEDIATION TRAINING:
In excess of 200 total hours of classroom training encompassing civil, family and criminal mediation through the Nueces County Dispute Resolution Center and other dispute resolution training programs. Continuing training is accomplished through membership in the Association for Conflict Resolution, Mediators Association of South Texas and attendance at various conferences and institutes.

LABOR ARBITRATION TRAINING:
Completed the Federal Mediation and Conciliaton Service training course for labor arbitrators. Fifteen years experience negotiating and mediating labor-management and EEOC grievances.

MEDIATION PHILOSOPHY:
I believe the "Empowerment Model" holds the best hope for bringing about settlements that result in long lasting resolution as opposed to the "Directive Model" that focuses primarily on attaining a resolution of the stated area(s) of disagreement. I have recently been exposed to the "Transformative Model" which is a refinement of the Empowerment Model, and I am enthusiastic about its use in situations where the dispute is concerned with redress in the workplace or in situations normally requiring an ombudsman. Dispute resolution, wherein the parties in dispute are allowed to work out their own solutions and develop trust, such as those found in the workplace, hold the best opportunity for true resolution as opposed to those found in tort cases where the "Directive" and "Caucus Model" are normally used.
